Cardiff City and Middlesbrough are eyeing moves for former Wolves loanee Alfred N’Diaye, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

N’Diaye is back at Villarreal after spending last season on loan at Wolves where he helped them win promotion to the Premier League.

N’Diaye made 37 appearances for Wolves last season, scoring three goals and the club had the option to sign him on a permanent basis, but decided against it.

A number of clubs have been keeping tabs on N’Diaye’s situation with the player still well down the pecking order at Villarreal.

The 28-year-old has spent the last 18 months away from Villarreal on loan at Hull and Wolves, and before joining Villarreal in the summer of 2016, N’Diaye had a spell on loan at Sunderland.

Cardiff boss Neil Warnock is looking to strengthen his midfield options before the close of the transfer window and he sees N’Diaye as a key addition to his plans as he has Premier League experience from his time at Hull and Sunderland.

Middlesbrough are also in the market for midfield reinforcements as Tony Pulis looks to assemble a squad capable of challenging for promotion and he was impressed by N’Diaye during his spell with Wolves in the Championship last season.
