Huddersfield Town and Wolverhampton Wanderers are the two Premier League sides most heavily linked with signing Middlesbrough’s Adama Traore.
If Huddersfield Town want to sign Adama Traore this summer, and The Sun says they do, now is their chance to make a move.
It is well known that Traore has an £18 million buy-out clause in his contract at Championship side Middlesbrough. And David Wagner’s Terriers are one of two clubs who have been most heavily linked with the winger in the last few weeks.
The other is Wolverhampton Wanderers.
But the Mirror (31 July, page 50) reports that Wolves do not believe that Traore is worth £18 million. Instead they are willing to pay a maximum of £12 million and it has been reported that they have seen a bid rejected already with Boro obviously not keen to sell their star man on the cheap.
So this gives Huddersfield a chance to swoop in and sign arguably the most exciting player in the Championship right now. The jet-heeled Spaniard tallied a hugely impressive 10 assists in the second tier last season as Tony Pulis’ side reached the play-off semi final.
With 28 goals in 38 games, Huddersfield were the joint lowest goalscorers in the Premier League in 2017/18, so the addition of Traore would help add some cutting edge in attack.
Though if they want to beat Wolves, paying the full £18 million is the only way to go.
