Steve Bruce wants to bring Jordan Hugill and Nick Powell to Aston Villa from West Ham United and Wigan Athletic, respectively, according to the Sun.

The newspaper reports that Bruce wants to prove to Villa’s new owners that he can still deliver major signings without the help of top agents.

And it claims the Villans boss has made contact with both West Ham and Wigan about signing the attacking pair.

Hugill is said to be wanted on loan by Aston Villa, with Bruce allegedly hoping to fend off interest from Leeds United and Queens Park Rangers.

And Powell could also prove difficult to acquire, despite having entered the final year of his Latics contract.

The 24-year-old has apparently hinted he wants to leave the DW Stadium, and would cost around £5 million, according to the Sun.

Nick Powell of Wigan Athletic runs with the ball during The Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round match between Wigan Athletic and West Ham United on January 27, 2018 in Wigan, United Kingdom.

The newspaper adds that a move for Powell, as well as the proposed loan capture of Liverpool’s Ben Woodburn, would probably depend on Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish being sold.

Would the West Ham / Wigan man be a good addition for Aston Villa?
