A number of Rangers fans took to Twitter to respond to David Bates' tweet after he helped Hamburg beat Monaco 3-1 in the German side's latest pre-season friendly on Saturday.
Bates swapped Ibrox for Germany's second tier this summer despite establishing himself as a key player during Graeme Murty's tenure with the Scottish Premiership side.
He caught nearly everyone off guard earlier this year when it was announced before the campaign had concluded that he had decided to sign a four-year deal with Hamburg - as reported by BBC Sport - who at the time were fighting to stay in the Bundesliga. Ultimately, they were relegated.
Meanwhile at Rangers, Steven Gerrard appears to have done a superb job of strengthening his centre-back options during the window, with Connor Goldson looking like one of the signings of the summer across the league and Nikola Katic clearly boasting a lot of potential.
Nevertheless, Gerrard appears to have struggled to make sure that the Gers have the depth they need for the coming season, with reported moves for Jake Cooper (via Daily Record), Curtis Tilt (via Daily Mirror) and Mark Beevers (via Daily Express) all failing to lead to a deal thus far.
So perhaps unsurprisingly, when Bates took to social media to comment on Hamburg's victory over Monaco, a number of Gers fans expressed their disappointment that he is still not at the club.
Monaco, of course, are a Champions League side, so to come away with a 3-1 victory is extremely impressive. And some suggested that Bates' form since heading to Germany is hinting that not getting him tied down to a long-term deal sooner could quickly prove to be one of the club's biggest mistakes in recent times.
Here is what Bates posted and how some of the Rangers supporters responded...
