It has been reported that the Gers made a bid of £200,000 for the former Rangers striker, but Hearts are claimed to have turned it down.
Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to speculation linking the Ibrox club with Lafferty.

Don’t get me wrong I’d take him back as long as we brought someone better in as well!— Ross Weir (@rossweir_) July 27, 2018
Would be a great option for under 500k. Would have a point to prove— Derek Carcary (@del_boy_ten) July 27, 2018
Played great with Hearts last year but it Never works when players come back.— Amo De Boer (@Amo0719) July 28, 2018
I wish we would scout more players abroad, there is some good unknown players out there, the Croation league has good talent— Alan Galli (@SpallyG94) July 27, 2018
He was nae that great the first time round and that was with Steven Davis creating chances for him— Gary kennedy (@garyjkennedy92) July 27, 2018
If we get him for under half a mill, it’s a no brainier. Hearts won’t sell for as little as that though.— Clint Hilly (@Hilly1872) July 27, 2018
Yip I'd take him all day long. Will get goals in this league— Gilly (@ThomasG1872RFC) July 27, 2018
It’s a no brainer for me as he would improve the squad,I believe the past should be left in the past— KennyP (@kennyp1886) July 27, 2018
Lafferty was on the books of Rangers from 2008 until 2012 and was quite successful during his time at Ibrox.
The Northern Ireland international striker played well for Hearts last season, as the former Norwich City man scored 19 goals in 44 games, as reported by BBC Sport.
Alfredo Morelos and Umar Sadiq are very talented strikers, but the duo are young, and Rangers could do with an experienced and establish player like Lafferty leading the line for Steven Gerrard’s side.
