Newcastle United are said to be interested in West Bromwich Albion striker Dwight Gayle, with Rafael Benitez keen to improve his strike-force.

Newcastle are finally set to sign a striker this summer, after a number of failed attempts, with Yoshinori Muto set to arrive at St. James’ Park in the near future.
That deal has cast doubt over whether Rondon will join, but the Chronicle suggest that Newcastle still have an interest in the West Brom man.

Rafael Benitez has been working on a deal to bring Rondon to Tyneside for much of the summer so far, but he has failed in his attempts.
However, Newcastle remain interested in the £16.5 million man (Telegraph) and could buy him if Gayle departs.

Gayle is thought to be available for the right price, as there are doubts over whether he has what it takes to become a prolific scorer in the Premier League.
Gayle has gone on record to suggest he wants to stay at Newcastle though, and it remains to be seen whether his mind will be changed.
