Mauricio Pochettino may be wise to re-ignite his interest in Leicester City’s Demarai Gray, following the youngster’s latest comments.
Tottenham have been long-term admirers of Gray, and ESPN suggested that they were set to make a move for the skilful wide-man this summer.
Spurs have been heavily linked with Wilfried Zaha and Anthony Martial this summer, but they may be wise to look at Gray.
And, interestingly, Gray has been used as a centre forward in Leicester’s pre-season so far.
Gray has been used to cover for Jamie Vardy, and the 22-year-old has suggested that he is enjoying playing up-front.
"I started in a central role as Vards is still not back after the World Cup," he said to the Leicester Mercury.
“It’s something I’ve adapted to well. In training, the manager has been working a lot on me playing centrally and I’ve enjoyed it. It’s nice to score goals, so if I’m asked to play there more often, I’ll be happy.”
Gray’s adaptability should make him an appealing target for Tottenham again.
And, as Pochettino struggles to get deals for other players over the line, Spurs may just be wise to re-enter the running for the Leicester prospect.
