HITC Sport understands Norwich are poised to sign former Newcastle keeper Tim Krul.
Former Newcastle and Brighton goalkeeper Tim Krul is set to join Norwich on a free transfer, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Norwich are in the market for a new goalkeeper after Angus Gunn’s loan spell at the club ended at the end of last season.
Gunn’s departure means Remi Matthews and Michael McGovern are the only two senior goalkeepers on the books at Carrow Road and Canaries boss Daniel Farke wants to bring in an experienced No.1 keeper and has targeted a move for Krul.
Krul is a free agent after leaving Brighton earlier this summer following the expiration of his one-year contract at the Premier League club.
The 30-year-old failed to make a single Premier League appearance for Brighton last season with the Dutchman restricted to just five appearances in cup competitions.
Krul has decided to move on in search of regular first-team football at this stage of his career and a number of clubs have shown an interest in securing his services.
Norwich want Krul to battle Matthews and McGovern for the No.1 shirt and add some experience to their young squad.
Krul boasts a wealth of experience in English football after spending 12 years at Newcastle and making 185 appearances for the Magpies following his arrival from ADO Den Haag in 2005.
