Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard reportedly wants Liverpool’s Dominic Solanke at Ibrox on loan.

Ibrox legend Derek Johnstone has predicted in The Glasgow Evening Times that Rangers manager Steven Gerrard will try to sign Dominic Solanke on loan from Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

Rangers are interested in signing Solanke from Premier League club Liverpool this summer, according to The Scottish Sun.

It has been reported that Rangers manager and Liverpool legend Gerrard wants to sign the 20-year-old striker on loan.

Rangers legend Johnstone, who had two separate loan spells at Ibrox, has stated that he would not be surprised if Gerrard makes a move for Solanke.

Johnstone wrote in The Glasgow Evening Times: “We will see another forward coming into the club. I’m not sure if they will buy anyone but they might look to get someone in on loan.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if Steven goes back to Liverpool to try and get someone like Dominic Solanke or uses his contacts down south to try and get a player up here on loan.”

Good signing for Rangers?

Alfredo Morelos is a good striker and Umar Sadiq is talented, but Rangers could do with another striker.

Solanke is very talented and has Premier League experience, and having been on the books of first Chelsea and now Liverpool, the 20-year-old – who earns £25,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com – would not be fazed at the prospect of playing in front of 50,000 fans at Ibrox.
