A reliable sign of how good a player really is is how much his current club’s fans want him to stay. And based on the reaction of Blackpool supporters to suggestions that Curtis Tilt could be on his way out of Bloomfield Road, Rangers could be landing a talented centre-back should they win the race.
The Mirror claims that Rangers scouted Tilt during Blackpool’s 2-0 behind-closed-doors friendly win against Burnley this week. And it is reported that the Ibrox giants have turned their attentions to the League One defender, who is valued at £1 million, after being told that Millwall’s Jake Cooper simply isn’t for sale.
And while Rangers supporters might not be too convinced by the potential addition of a 26-year-old who had never played football at a professional level until last season, the Blackpool fans certainly know that they’ve got a talent on their hands.
The Englishman made 42 starts as The Tangerines finished in 12th place in the third tier last season and it remains to be seen whether he will now be given the chance to play for one of the biggest and most historic clubs in British football.
Tilt would certainly be missed at Blackpool.
