Leicester City are reportedly interested in signing the AZ Alkmaar winger.

According to a report from Vananews, Leicester City are close to signing AZ Alkmaar winger Alireza Jahanbakhsh, and what an incredible addition the Iranian could turn out to be for Claude Puel’s side.

The 24-year-old was in quite simply sensational form for the Dutch outfit last season, chalking up 22 goals and 14 assists in 39 appearances in all competitions.

With Riyad Mahrez having left for pastures new, the Foxes must replace the Algerian, and Jahanbakhsh could be just the ticket.

The Iran international possesses pace in abundance, and plays with a certain type of directness that makes him ideally suited to Puel’s setup at Leicester.

The AZ Alkmaar man can play anywhere along the front-line, and he possesses enough quality to more than make up for the void left behind by Mahrez.

Jahanbakhsh has earned 41 international caps for Iran, so he is already extensively experienced, despite his tender years.

Leicester were rather impotent in front of goal last season, and the 24-year-old winger would certainly provide the Foxes with more of a cutting edge in the final third.

If Puel does manage to bring Jahanbakhsh to the King Power Stadium this summer, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for the east Midlands outfit.
