Recent reports suggest West Ham United want Genoa’s Uruguayan defender Diego Laxalt and Barcelona’s Brazilian midfielder Rafinha.

Reports over Tuesday and Wednesday have linked West Ham United with interest in Genoa’s Diego Laxalt and Barcelona’s Rafinha.
Should those two sign for West Ham, it would take their first-team summer signings up to nine with three weeks still left of the transfer window.
That begs the question: are West Ham trying to change too much?
There’s no doubt that the club are hoping to rapidly change direction after the disappointment of last season – the appointment of Manuel Pellegrini attests to that – but changing their entire first team is an incredible risk, even if the players are better than what they had.
Expecting so many players to gel at once is a very, very tall order, as we’ve seen before in the Premier League when Tottenham and Liverpool attempted to do it after receiving huge fees for their respective star players.
Neither worked out, however, despite the quality of the incoming players – which was, admittedly a level higher than what West Ham are doing.

Each signing already holds a degree of risk to it, from Jack Wilshere’s injury problems and Fabian Balbuena transferring to European football to Felipe Anderson’s lack of first-team action at Lazio.
With the uncertainty that will always be there with any new signing, is building an entire team of them worth the risk?
If all of these players are signing up for a long-term ride, then perhaps it is, but if West Ham are expecting to make waves next season, they may be stretching themselves too far.
