One Rangers talent has made the step up... will another follow.

Glasgow Rangers fans caught a glimpse of Glenn Middleton last week against Shkupi and were impressed.

Middleton came off the bench at Ibrox in the first leg of their Europa League and looked bright, doing more than Josh Windass had done all game.

He is being hailed as a breakthrough star - and he might not be the only one, with Serge Atakayi continuing to impress for the Rangers academy.

Atakayi signed for Rangers two summers ago after making his first team debut in Finland at just 16.

He is still waiting for his big chance at Rangers, but it cannot be far off.

The young winger is a regular goalscorer for Rangers under-20 side, and was on target this week for the under-19s.

Atakayi netted in the final of a youth tournament in the Czech Republic, as Rangers won the final 4-0 against MSK Zilina.

The teenager has been threatening to break through for a year now, and Middleton's early success for the Rangers first team offers a pathway for Atakayi, who plays on the opposite flank.

The 19-year-old has a chance to be a big player for Rangers, and Steven Gerrard will surely be paying attention to his development.

Steven Gerrard is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers football Club at Ibrox Stadium on May 4, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.
