Sunderland reportedly want Cheltenham Town forward Mohamed Eisa.

According to The Northern Echo, Sunderland are interested in signing Mohamed Eisa from Cheltenham Town in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that Sunderland, who will play in League One next season after getting relegated from the Premier League, have made an offer of £1million for the 24-year-old forward.

Peterborough United and Portsmouth are also reported to be interested in Eisa, who scored 23 goals in 45 League Two appearances for Cheltenham last season, according to WhoScored.

Sunderland owner Stewart Donald seems to have confirmed the club’s interest in Eisa by replying to a fan about the forward on social networking site Twitter.

When asked if there was any truth in the rumour about Eisa, Donald wrote on Twitter and then added a ‘winking face emoji’: “What rumours?? Have not seen any rumours Aaron.”

Donald is being coy about Eisa, and that suggests that Sunderland are indeed interested in the forward.

After all, why would the Sunderland owner bother to even reply to a fan about a player if he is at least not interested in him?

Moreover, Donald would have simply said ‘no’ if the Black Cats were not interested in the former Greenwich Borough forward.
