The Rangers midfielder was banished from Ibrox in January but could get a chance to impress Steven Gerrard when he returns in the new year.

Some Rangers fans are being nice to Carlos Pena.

The Rangers midfielder was banished from Ibrox in January, moving on loan to Cruz Azul and then Necaxa, and has spent some of the year battling off-field issues.

But things are starting to look up for Pena, whose new club won the Supercopa MX on Sunday – albeit without the help of the 28-year-old, who remained an unused substitute for the final against Monterrey.

Nevertheless, some Rangers fans believe they have spotted an improvement in Pena’s appearance, and were keen to let him know on social media – with a few even calling for him to be given another chance at Ibrox.

This is what they’re saying in response to the Mexican’s post-match update on Instagram…

Meanwhile, another Mexican, Eduardo Herrera, has today followed Pena out of Rangers, signing a one-year loan deal with Santos Laguna.

Both players were brought to Rangers during last summer’s transfer window by Pedro Caixinha.
