Issa Diop signed, £26.5m bid tabled for Yerry Mina, West Ham could have a seriously formidable centre-back partnership

Mina / Diop

West Ham United have been extremely busy during this summer's transfer window.

West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini has already brought a plethora of new signings into the club this summer, but one of his most exciting acquisitions has to be Issa Diop.

The 21-year-old was brought in from Toulouse for £22 million - a club record for a defender, and many expect great things from the 6ft 4in Frenchman.

The Hammers have also been linked with a move for Barcelona centre-back Yerry Mina, with Spanish media outlet Sport claiming that they have offered in excess of £26.5 million for the Colombian.

Every Love Island contestant if they were an England player - World Cup!

And if West Ham are successful in their pursuit of the 23-year-old centre-back, they could have one of the most formidable central defensive partnerships of the best part of 10 years or so to come.

Standing at 6ft 5in tall, Mina is an inch taller than Diop, and the duo possess the kind of physical attributes that make them ideally suited to the robust nature of the English game.

The two players have a combined age of just 44, so they have at least 10 years ahead of them before their powers begin to wane.

Good centre-back partnerships are all about familiarity, so if West Ham do bring in Mina, both he and Diop will have the best part of a decade to forge a telepathic understanding with each other.

The duo are also both man monsters, and there will not be too many Premier League strikers who relish a physical battle with the Frenchman and the Colombian.

The Hammers' transfer business has already been outstanding, but if they bring Mina to the London Stadium, they could reach entirely new levels this season.
