Marvin Compper struggled in Celtic’s pre-season win today.

Some Celtic fans aren’t very impressed by Marvin Compper on Twitter.
The German centre-back was one of 11 second-half substitutes by Brendan Rodgers this afternoon as Celtic thumped Standard Liege 4-1 at Parkhead.
This was only the 33-year-old’s third game for the Hoops since joining for £1 million [The Scottish Sun] from RB Leipzig in January, having spent most of the second half of the campaign out injured.
And suffice to say that some Celtic supporters weren’t hugely impressed by him. Here is how they reacted on Twitter:
In Compper’s defence, this was a pre-season friendly and little can be read into his performance, whether it was shocking or superb.
That being said, you do wonder how often he will play next season, considering that Rodgers has Jozo Simunovic, Kristoffer Ajer, Jack Hendry and Dedryck Boyata as centre-back options.
It’s entirely feasible that Compper will barely get a look-in during the 2018-19 campaign, but time will tell.

As far as the match goes, Rodgers’s side romped to a 3-0 half-time lead after goals from Odsonne Edouard, Moussa Dembele and Callum McGregor.
Mikey Johnston added a cheeky fourth midway through the second period by chipping over the Liege stopper for his first goal at Parkhead, while Duje Cop grabbed a consolation for the visiting Belgians.
