Report: Jurgen Klopp impressed by Liverpool's Danny Ward

Liverpool goalkeeper Danny Ward is set to be handed his first-team chance by Jurgen Klopp.

According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Liverpool youngster Danny Ward has caught the eye of Jurgen Klopp in training.

Ward has been pushing for the number one shirt at Liverpool for some time, but has often been overlooked.

Klopp reportedly felt that Ward returned from a loan spell at Huddersfield Town and had let his standards slip, in terms of his physical conditioning.

However, the German boss has seen a big improvement in the Liverpool goalkeeper this summer and is now prepared to hand him his chance.

Loris Karius made a howler in pre-season against Tranmere, which has heaped further pressure on the error-prone goalkeeper from the Anfield crowd.

Liverpool have been linked with signing a host of new number ones, but Klopp is reportedly reluctant to bring in a new goalkeeper this summer.

And Ward is believed to be next in line to be given his chance at Anfield, with Klopp impressed by his change in attitude in pre-season.
