Newcastle United have reportedly made a move to re-sign Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum and the club’s supporters on Twitter have approved of the idea to bring him back to the club.

The 27-year-old previously spent a successful season at St James’ Park in the 2015/16 campaign, where he managed to chip in with 11 goals from midfield.

According to Turkish outlet Takvim, Newcastle have made an offer to try sign the Liverpool enforcer and may have to beat off competition from Fenerbahce for his signature.

He could find it difficult to cement a spot in the starting XI at Anfield due to the fierce competition next season and is allegedly weighing up his future.

The central midfielder did chalk up 50 games in all competitions for Liverpool last season and it would be some feat for Rafael Benitez’s men to get him back in their squad.

Wijnaldum seemed to jump ship at the first opportunity after just a year at Newcastle, but it seems all is forgiven and most would be pleased to see him return.

A selection of Newcastle fans believe he would be an excellent addition to the current squad, but some are unclear over whether a move is feasible or not.
