It comes after Loris Karius made yet another error in the recent 3-2 pre-season win over Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park, when he dropped a free-kick he should have held to allow Jonny Smith to follow up and score.
Karius has largely struggled at Anfield since transferring from Bundesliga outfit Mainz 05 in the summer of 2016, and came under fire recently for his calamitous performance in the Champions League final against Real Madrid.
But Liverpool supporters still hurting from that may now be buoyed, with the Echo reporting that Klopp is ready to hand Ward a chance between the sticks.
The Welsh stopper has been at the club since 2012 after joining from Wrexham, and has only ever made three appearances for the club, including one last season in the League Cup.
He has been out on loan three times to Morecambe, Aberdeen and Huddersfield Town but now looks set to finally get his chance at Anfield, with Simon Mignolet seemingly no longer trusted by Klopp.
Some Liverpool fans have been delighted by the news, but others, on a day where reports surfaced that the club have still no made contact over Roma stopper Alisson, are not too sure:
We'll never know if we don't try him, has the attributes to succeed in the Prem you would think— Andy (@Mahjeed_) 12 July 2018
It's definitely worth it to give him a chance.— Nah' (@Be_Keitastic) 12 July 2018
£80m on a new keeper v one we already have— Bryn Harvey (@HarveyBryn) 12 July 2018
Has deserved this opportunity. I said after the Euros he deserved a run in the side. Has already played in big games such as against Slovakia in Wales’s first game and then in the Play Offs for Huddersfield. From what I’ve seen he’s much more commanding than Karius and Migs also.— Huw Ynyr Pritchard (@huw_ynyr11) 12 July 2018
We need a top class keeper not someone who is our number 3 stop playing about and spend the money!!!— Chris Jarrett (@Jarrett242) 12 July 2018
Burnley fans said the same about Nick Pope, out of the 3 goalkeepers we have Danny Ward is the best one, big in the air, commanding, good reflexes. Played premier league football before his loan move to Huddersfield, deserves his chance— Zach (@zachacsmith) 12 July 2018
Yes!!!!!!! Much rather this to solve the goalkeeper conundrum.— Lloydy (@Lloydy2K) 12 July 2018
He can’t possibly be worse than Karius— Liverpool Red (@lfcredynwa) 12 July 2018
Huge potential and couldn't do any worse— Jonny Sewell (@jonnysewell82) 12 July 2018
Praise the lord! Let’s hope this is true. I feel for Karius as he’s obviously mentally fragile at the moment. However Klopp persisting with him is only compounding the problem. Take him out of the firing line and give Ward a chance. Allison overhyped.— Adge (@adge2376) 12 July 2018
I see the thinking but if Klopp didn’t think he could do it while they were both cocking up I don’t think he’s the answer hope I’m wrong— J (@jayrimmer2014) 12 July 2018
Why not, the season he had at Huddersfield he looked decent - good luck to him - personally I think he will do well. #LFC— James Torode (@nice2cu2cunice) 12 July 2018
Wish him nothing but the best, but to challenge for trophies what we need is a upper echelon keeper. We cant keep relying on our front three to bang in 4 goals a game these days keepers win you games!— D H (@DH_Ghosty) 12 July 2018
