Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Domingos Quina from West Ham United this summer.

According to a report from the Daily Mirror’s live transfer blog (11/07; 14:00), Newcastle are interested in signing Domingos Quina from West Ham this summer as Rafa Benitez continues to try and add depth to his squad at St James’ Park.

The Magpies have enjoyed a fairly quiet summer so far with Martin Dubravka and Ki Sung-yeung arriving. Sky Sports reports that Kenedy is set to return to Tyneside for another loan spell, but Benitez will surely be hoping to get more players in before the new season starts next month.

And one of the players that he reportedly has his eye on is Quina, with the Daily Mirror reporting on their live transfer blog (11/07; 14:00) that the Magpies are rivalling Championship side Leeds United for the Portuguese’s signature.

The 18-year-old may not be an established player at the London Stadium by any means, but it could certainly be argued that he could potentially become one of the most exciting signings that Newcastle possibly pull off if they manage to win the race for his signature.

Quina has long been considered one of the brightest prospects in a West Ham academy that has had no problem churning out some seriously talented youngsters in recent times. If the Hammers are willing to let him go, then Newcastle simply must not pass up the chance to capitalise.

Newcastle are well stocked for options in the middle of the park, especially after Ki’s arrival, but Quina – who has previously been on Benfica’s and Chelsea’s books – would arguably give Benitez something different.

He could bring the same sort of levels of excitement in the coming years as Kenedy does now if Benitez is able to get the best out of him. And the Spaniard has shown down the years that one thing that he does not struggle to do is elevate players which could make Quina and Newcastle a match made in heaven if they manage to sign the teenager.
