West Ham were hoping to sign Yaya Toure this summer and have held talks with the former Manchester City midfielder, according to the Sun.

However, the newspaper claims the Hammers are 'reluctant to offer Toure a Premier League lifeline' after his recent outburst against Pep Guardiola.

A Sun insider is quoted as saying that although Manuel Pellegrini might want his former City player to join him at the London Stadium, those comments have caused West Ham to think twice.

And despite claims made by Toure's agent, Dmitri Seluk, that the Ivorian would play for £1 a week, the Sun reports Toure wants a 'huge signing-on fee plus bonuses', which could potentially cost the Hammers more than £100,000 a week.
