Five facts about teenage Manchester United target Erling Haaland

Talksport has reported that United scouts have been in attendance for a number of the Molde striker's games in the Eliteserien this season.

The 17-year-old has caused a stir and is rumoured to have caught the attention of some of Europe's biggest clubs.

So who is the wonderkid tearing up the Eliteserien? Why are some of Europe's elite clubs interested in signing him? And why might some United fans recognise the name?

1) The teenager is the son of former Leeds United and Manchester City defender Alf-Inge Haaland, infamous for his feud with Roy Keane


2) Having been born in Leeds during his father's time at Elland Road, Haaland made his professional debut at the age of 15 for Norwegian side Bryne before moving to Molde in February 2017 for £180,000.

3) Haaland has found the net 8 times in 14 appearances this season, including scoring four goals in the opening 21 minutes of his side's game against Brann at the beginning of July, with a United scout reportedly present.

4) The 1.91m forward currently plays under United legend Ole Gunnar-Solskjaer at Molde, with the man fans used to call the "baby-faced assassin" having touted him as a future star and compared him to Romelu Lukaku.

5) The striker is a Leeds fan and last year said it was his dream to help the Whites win the Premier League, but Solsjkaer has been reported as saying he suspects Haaland will find it hard to turn down an approach from the Red Devils.
