Tottenham fans on Twitter have reacted to Paulinho's latest performance for Brazil.
The former Tottenham midfielder started his country's 2-1 World Cup quarter-final defeat by Belgium on Friday, but was unable to influence the game and was hauled off after 73 minutes.
Paulinho, who spent two years on Spurs' books until 2015, also missed a good chance for the Selecao but fluffed his lines completely.
The 29-year-old has enjoyed a career resurgence over the past 12 months, having secured a big-money move to Barcelona from Guangzhou Evergrande last summer.
But his performance on Friday was the archetypal Tottenham-like display from the midfielder and here is how fans of the North London club reacted to his showing.
I would judge Paulinho’s WC performance like most of his spurs ones, a few decent runs into the box but not much of anything else— Paul Pettitt (@goatfaced) July 6, 2018
Paulinho looks nothing like himself from his Spurs days. Spot him by looking for the dude who gets the ball on his foot in the box but never scores #BRAvBEL— The OO (@TedDennison) July 6, 2018
Good to see the Spurs version of Paulinho has turned up tonight— Adrian Hughes (@adrianhughes10) July 6, 2018
Bad time for Spurs Paulinho to make an appearance— #FreeDanielNorris (@spacemnkymafia) July 6, 2018
Paulinho was useless at Spurs, he’s played pub football in China for a couple of years and stolen a living for a year at Barcelona, he is rubbish.— Simon Carnall (@simoncarnall6) July 6, 2018
Surprising failure by Paulinho to influence a game— Charles COYS (@charlesrich82) July 6, 2018
paulinho fluffing his lines in the box will come as no surprise to super jan. #coys— greg king (@gregorylking) July 6, 2018
Tottenham haven't missed Paulinho in the slightest. Despite being at Barcelona, the Brazilian wouldn't make Mauricio Pochettino's best XI if, hypothetically, he was still in North London, and that is very much testament to the Argentine himself.
