Leeds United want to sign former Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga from Middlesbrough in the summer transfer window, according to The Northern Echo, and that should excite the fans.

Assombalonga is one of the best strikers in the Championship, and securing the services of the former Forest star this summer will enhance Leeds’s chances of getting promoted to the Premier League.

The 25-year-old’s injury issues are behind him, and given the DR Congo international’s record in the Championship, the Whites will have done well if they are able to bring him to Elland Road for the 2018-19 campaign.

The former Watford striker scored 15 goals in the Championship for Middlesbrough last season and 14 in 20 league starts for Forest during the 2016-17 campaign.

Assombalonga found the net 15 times in 27 Championship starts for Forest back in 2014-15, and it is clear that he is a proven goalscorer in the division.

Leeds need to sign a proven goalscorer this summer, a striker who can find the net 15 to 20 goals in the league next season – and Assombalonga is that player.
