The Evening Chronicle have claimed that Curtis Good cost Newcastle United a whopping £1.8million in wages during his time at St. James' Park, after finally being released this summer.

Good, 25, joined Newcastle back in the summer of 2012 from Australian A-League side Melbourne Heart, but he failed to make an impact during his six-year spell on Tyneside.

Indeed, Good cost the club a huge £900,000 an appearance, after only playing two times for Newcastle - once in the FA Cup against Oxford United in January 2017, and once in the Carabao Cup against Morcambe in August 2013.

The report claims that his £6,000-a-week wages saw him waste almost £2million of the Toon's coffers, and now the one-time Australia international is on trial with League One side Blackpool.

Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez is seen during the Premier League match between Newcastle United and Chelsea at St. James Park on May 13, 2018 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.

Good is on the lookout for a new club after his contract finally came to an end at Newcastle, and Blackpool are said to be taking a look at the centre-back before considering a move.

One thing is for sure, though, is that Newcastle have finally rid themselves of a player that was a huge waste of money.
