Championship duo Swansea City and Hull City are battling it out for highly-rated Yeovil defender Tom James, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

James enjoyed an outstanding campaign for Yeovil last season, making 51 appearances in all competitions for the League Two club.

The right-back, who can play anywhere across the back line, impressed in Yeovil’s run to the fourth round of the FA Cup and played in their clash with Manchester United.

The 22-year-old’s impressive performances have not gone unnoticed among clubs higher up the football pyramid with Swansea and Hull admirers of the former Wales Under-19 international.

Swansea are in the market for a new right-back this summer following Angel Rangel’s decision to leave the club and James is thought to figure highly on their wanted list.

Hull are also aiming to bolster their defensive options after losing a number of key personnel at the end of last season and they see James a potential star in the making.
