HITC Sport understands Brighton have agreed a deal to sign Fulham goalkeeper David Button.
Brighton & Hove Albion are poised to sign goalkeeper David Button from Premier League rivals Fulham, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Bristol City were also chasing Button’s signature, but Brighton have moved to lure the player to the south coast.
Brighton boss Chris Hughton is keen to bring in former Tottenham youngster Button to provide cover and competition for No.1 keeper Mat Ryan despite also signing Jason Steele from Sunderland this summer.
The Seagulls have loaned out Christian Walton to Wigan this summer, while Niki Maenpaa has departed the club, leaving Hughton short of goalkeeping options at the Amex Stadium.
Button found himself out of favour at Fulham in the second half of last season, with Marcus Bettinelli establishing himself as first-choice goalkeeper under Slavisa Jokanovic.
Button is enterting the final year of his contract at Craven Cottage and Fulham are ready to cash-in on him rather than risk allowing him to run down his contract.
The 29-year-old joined Fulham in the summer of 2016 from Brentford and has made 61 appearances for the club.
Button is now set to become Brighton’s fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Steele, striker Florin Andone and defender Leon Balogun.
