Leeds United are among the Championship teams reportedly interested in signing Bristol City left-back Joe Bryan

Leeds United have been without a top quality left-back ever since Charlie Taylor made that controversial move to Burnley in the summer of 2016.

Laurens de Bock and Cameron Borthwic-Jackson both failed to fill the void – so what a signing it would be if Leeds were able to land quite possibly the best left-back in the Championship right now.

According to the Bristol Post, Leeds are indeed interested in signing the influential Bristol City star Joe Bryan. Now, if there’s a better left sided player in England’s second tier right now, he would have to be pretty special.

Because Bryan just keeps on going from strength to strength. He even scored seven goals in all competitions last season, including that long-range rocket that knocked Manchester United out of the EFL Cup quarter-finals.

But with Leeds pursuing a big-money deal for Matej Vydra, could they even afford to sign the Bristol-born 24-year-old?

Well, the Post certainly provides plenty of reason for optimism. It is understood that The Robins wanted £10 million for Bryan last summer but, with just a year left on his contract and with the attack-minded full-back turning down a number of extensions, it is understood that his price-tag has dropped.

Landing Bryan for less than £10 million would make an already brilliant deal even more impressive.
