Yerry Mina of FC Barcelona looks on prior to the start the La Liga match between Malaga and Barcelona at Estadio La Rosaleda on March 10, 2018 in Malaga, Spain.

Everton want to sign Barcelona centre-back Yerry Mina this summer, according to the Liverpool Echo, and they have already gotten in touch with the La Liga giants to register their interest.

The Colombia international arrived Camp Nou in January from Palmeiras for £10million, and Barca wasted no time slamming an £88million buyout clause on his head.

Mina struggled to hit the ground running at Barcelona, but he was key to Colombia's World Cup campaign, scoring thrice in three appearances, including the late equalizer in their round-of-16 clash against England on Tuesday.

A season-long loan rather than a permanent exit is more likely for Mina, and Everton are said to be more than glad to have him at the Goodison Park temporarily.

The ageing Toffees' defence could do with quality recruitment this summer, and the Colombian brings a lot to the table.

Mina is a threat at both ends due to his towering 6ft 5in height, and his ability on the ball will also be beneficial to manager Marco Silva's plans.

The 23-year-old became the first defender in history to score a goal in each of his first three World Cup matches, and can make more history at Everton if they manage to get a deal over the line for him ahead of 2018-19.
