West Ham United's transfer plans could cause frustration at Tottenham Hotspur

Nice's French forward Alassane Plea (L) celebrates after scoring a goal during the French L1 football match Nice vs Rennes on april 8, 2018 at the 'Allianz Riviera' stadium in Nice,...

Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are reportedly going head to head for two transfer targets this summer.

Alassane Plea of Nice holds off pressure from Thomas Bruns of Vitesse during the UEFA Europa League group K match between Vitesse and OGC Nice on December 7, 2017 in Arnhem, Netherlands.

West Ham United have the potential to strike a double transfer-blow to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

According to Sky Sports, West Ham are rivalling Tottenham in the race to sign Alassane Plea from Nice this summer.

And last night it emerged from TMW in Italy, that Mateo Kovacic is now on Manuel Pellegrini’s side’s radar.

Kovacic has been heavily linked with Tottenham throughout the transfer window so far, but West Ham appear to be stepping up their chase now.

Mateo Kovacic scores in the first half of the Real Madrid vs Barcelona International Champions Cup friendly match at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, on July 29, 2017.

It shows the ambition of the Hammers that they are now rivalling Tottenham for targets, and their transfer plans could cause frustration at Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Spurs have been quiet in the transfer window so far, and if Tottenham fans do see both Kovacic and Plea at West Ham next season, that could cause annoyance.

Mateo Kovacic of Real Madrid controls the ball during the La Liga match between Malaga CF and Real Madrid CF at Estadio La Rosaleda on April 15, 2018 in Malaga, Spain.

Tottenham’s transfer policy has come under scrutiny in recent seasons, with Pochettino’s side just failing to get over the line in multiple positions.

And if West Ham do land Kovacic and Plea ahead of them, Tottenham supporters would be within their rights to ask serious questions of their side’s ambition.
