According to The Daily Mail, Celtic are bracing themselves for a £5 million bid from Lille for centre-back Jozo Simunovic.
The former Dinamo Zagreb stalwart is regularly linked with a move away from Parkhead.
However, it could finally materialise this summer following a sluggish second half to the 2017-18 campaign, in which Simunovic was dropped by Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers.
Nevertheless, the Ligue 1 side are interested in signing the 23-year-old according to The Daily Mail, which states that coach Christophe Galtier wants him involved in the post-Marcelo Bielsa era.
Simunovic's stock among Celtic fans is not what it once was, and here is how some supporters of the Glasgow giants reacted to the speculation about the big defender.
Jozo can go for me if we can get £5m ? Big Compper looked good the other night so maybe we have a guy already at the club and who can play on all surfaces, I remember Brendan raging with Jozo when he was trying to leave the park without coming over to the Celtic fans— Griff (@MildooWolf) June 29, 2018
Most likely no truth in this SIMUNOVIC story. If there was I am spilt 50/50 can be a good defender though form is up and down and a few noteable errors. If we had a good replacement for him then I would let him go. pic.twitter.com/HQubb2A2FC— Celtic FC Follower (@YBawbag) June 29, 2018
Simunovic has been very poor IMO. Boyata has improved. I doubt he'll maintain form through to Europe....love it if he proved me wrong tho!!— Armchair Ultras Pod (@armchairultras) June 28, 2018
If we’ve got a €5.5m bid for Simunovic then that’s an absolute no brainer— Martin (@martino67_) June 29, 2018
Despite a loss of form last season, Simunovic remains a very capable defender and although he can be a bit of a bomb scare - particularly in Europe - perhaps Rodgers is better off keeping hold of him.
