Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard wants to bring Dylan McGeouch to Ibrox, with The Scottish Sun reporting that the Gers are interested in securing the services of the former Celtic midfielder on a free transfer window.
However, it seems that it is Sunderland, not Rangers, who are on the verge of signing McGeouch, who is leaving Hibernian this summer.
According to The Sunderland Echo, McGeouch held talks with Sunderland last week and is keen on a switch to the Stadium of Light as a free agent.
The 37-year-old Scotsman believes that the midfielder would be a good signing for Sunderland, who will play in League One next season after getting relegated from the Championship and will be aiming to bounce straight back to the second tier of English football.
Dylan McGeouch very close to joining up with Jack Ross at Sunderland. Seems the faint hope that Hibs could hang on to him has been dashed :(— Tam McManus (@The_Tman10) June 29, 2018
Be a tremendous signing for the Black Cats as Dylan is minimum an English Championship player.
It should to get them out that division. https://t.co/1jbQVTvLUI— Tam McManus (@The_Tman10) June 29, 2018
