HITC Sport understands the Barnsley 'keeper is set to sign a new deal.
Highly-rated Barnsley goalkeeper Jack Walton is set to commit his future to the club by signing a new deal at Oakwell, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Walton was thrust into the first-team spotlight at the back end of last season when he made his senior debut against Nottingham Forest in April.
The 20-year-old started the last three games of the season ahead of first-choice goalkeeper Adam Davies, keeping a clean sheet in the 2-0 win over Brentford.
Walton is highly-regarded at Barnsley and he is set to fight it out with Davies for the No.1 shirt this season in League One following the club's relegation from the Championship.
The former Bolton youngster is out of contract this summer and the club have been determined to tie him down to a new long-term deal as reward for his progress last season.
Walton had a spell out on loan at Northern Premier League side Stalybridge Celtic last season before being recalled by Barnsley, and he took his chance in the first-team by figuring in the last three games of the campaign.
News of Walton's impending new deal will come as a major boost to Barnsley boss Daniel Stendel, as he prepares to assemble a squad capable of challenging for promotion next season.
