Some Leeds United fans on Twitter are berating the fact that Aden Flint is joining Middlesbrough.
HITC Sport reported on Tuesday that Boro had agreed a deal with Bristol City for the towering 6'6 centre-back who, according to The Sun, could move for around £7 million.
And a number of United fans reckon that the Elland Road club - who are reportedly in the market for a centre-back, amid rumours about re-signing Kyle Bartley [Yorkshire Evening Post] - should have gone in for Flint.
Here is how they are reacting to reports of the agreed deal:
I am not saying Flint was the ideal signing - just a better option than Bartley imho.— Graham Bloor (@graham_bloor) June 26, 2018
Flint going for only 5 mil to Boro really tells us how much of a liability Orta is not to pursue him.— Hugh Jarce (@Hughjarce2014) June 26, 2018
Aiden Flint has gone to Boro for £5mill. Why ain’t we in for him at that price?! Come on now #lufc— Ed McIntyre (@ed_mcintyre98) June 26, 2018
Aden Flint at 5 mil is an absolute bargain— Greg Gibson (@lufc_gibson) June 26, 2018
What a signing that is for Boro would of loved Aiden Flint at Leeds but as long as we get Bartley then it's not too much of a problem— Robert James (@Robertkas86) June 26, 2018
Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis has already signed former Sunderland midfielder Paddy McNair this summer and the addition of Flint is another big step toward being serious promotion contenders.
Leeds will definitely need at least one centre-back signed this summer after Matthew Pennington returned to parent club Everton.
Pontus Jansson and Liam Cooper remain as the Whites' best central defensive options, but the re-pairing of Jansson and Bartley is the dream for many-a-Leeds supporter, though time will tell if it materialises.
