HITC Sport understands Middlesbrough are closing in on Bristol City star Flint.

Middlesbrough have agreed a deal with Bristol City for defender Aden Flint, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Towering defender Flint has been a long-term target for Middlesbrough with Boro boss Tony Pulis a big fan of the stopper.
A number of Premier League and Championship clubs have looked at the giant defender following his impressive form at Bristol City during the last couple of seasons.

Flint, who scored nine goals last season, was linked with moves away from Bristol City during last summer’s transfer window when Birmingham City bid for him, while Brighton tried to land him during the January transfer window.
The 6ft 6in centre-back was instrumental in helping Bristol City reach the League Cup semi-finals last season and put in a man-of-the-match performance against Manchester City in the first leg of the semi-finals at the Etihad Stadium.

Bristol City were reluctant to lose Flint as he is such a key player for Lee Johnson’s side, but Middlesbrough have moved quickly to agree a fee with their Championship rivals for the 28-year-old.
Pulis has identified Flint as one his top targets as he sees him as a key addition to his squad for next season as he looks to mount another bid for promotion back to the Premier League after missing out on the play-offs last season.
