Sunderland are likely to be busy this summer as they prepare for life in League One.

Sky Sports have claimed on their Transfer Centre (Wednesday, 22:28) that Sunderland and Bolton are going head to head to land Peterborough United defender Jack Baldwin this summer.
Baldwin, 24, captained Peterborough throughout 2017-18 as he enjoyed a rather successful season on a personal note, making 43 appearances in all competitions and helping The Posh keep eight clean sheets – and scoring three goals.

Now, Baldwin could be on the move and it is believed that Peterborough value their captain at a bargain fee of just £250,000 this summer.

Sunderland are expected to be majorly busy this summer, but the report claims Jack Ross’ side must sell some of their high earners before they can buy players.

That could see the Black Cats miss out to Championship side Bolton, who narrowly escaped the drop last season by finishing in 21st place. Phil Parkinson’s side are keen to tie up a deal by next week.
Peteborough are likely to be keen to offload Baldwin this summer, rather than risk losing their captain on a free next summer with his current Posh deal set to expire in 12 months.
