Wolverhampton Wanderers fans on Twitter now want their club to make a move for William Carvalho.

The new Premier League side announced on Monday that they had signed Rui Patricio from Sporting Lisbon.

Patricio and Carvalho were two of the seven players who terminated their contracts with the Portuguese giants last week [BBC Sport] after being attacked by fans toward the end of last season.

Therefore, Carvalho, like Patricio, could be available on a free transfer this summer, depending on whether FIFA rule that a compensation fee must be paid to Sporting after club president Bruno de Carvalho took legal action [The Liverpool Echo].

And Wolves fans would love to see the Portugal international line up in their midfield next season.

Is it viable? At this rate, Wolves fans wouldn't bet against it.

Manager Nuno Espirito Santo has made a habit of signing Portuguese players since taking the reins at Molineux last summer, with Ruben Neves, in particular, playing a huge role in their promotion to the top flight last term.

The signing of Patricio doesn't indicate a change of tact from Nuno and although Carvalho - whose release clause was £40 million last summer [Sky Sports] - is linked with a number of other Premier League sides, few would be surprised to see him join up with his compatriots in the West Midlands.
