David Stockdale has been linked with a move from Birmingham City to Leeds United.

Speculation over the future of David Stockdale has increased over the past 24 hours with reports linking him with a switch to Leeds United.

The Birmingham Mail report Leeds have had an offer for the goalkeeper turned down by Birmingham City.

Stockdale was born in Leeds and has previously stated he is a fan of the club, and with the Whites needing a replacement for Felix Wiedwald to compete with youngster Bailey Peacock-Farrell, a move makes sense.

The Yorkshire Evening Post had reported earlier in the day that Stockdale’s wage demands were above what Leeds were willing to pay, which did not go down well with some fans.

Stockdale spoke up yesterday to thank a Birmingham fan who had questioned the wage reports and also praised his performances.

Why you'd be foolish to write Celtic off next season

The fan wrote via Twitter: “Stockdale a bang on lad and keeper. We were shit last season collectively. If anything Stockdale kept the score down many a time. Got a lot to offer with the right club.I don’t believe for a minute his wages are the problem. Gutted to see him go tbh.KRO SOTV”

Stockdale responded to the comment:

Stockdale got involved in this exchange with a Leeds and Birmingham fan.

Then there was this…

David Stockdale’s wife even got involved too, responding to a critical tweet from a Leeds United fan, dismissing it as fiction.

One thing is for sure, if Stockdale did not care for a move to Leeds United, he would not be bothered enough to comment on the claims.

The fact he has come out and addressed the situation and stick he feels he is getting which is unwarranted is not just about reputation, it shows he cares for a potential move.
