Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly on the verge of selling Ivan Cavaleiro to their Premier League rivals.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Wolves have agreed a £12 million fee with Huddersfield Town that could see Ivan Cavaleiro swap Molineux for the John Smith’s Stadium this summer.

It has caught a number of Wolves fans completely off guard, but TEAMtalk reports that the club’s owners are ready to sell Cavaleiro during this window as Nuno Espirito Santo’s men prepare for their return to the Premier League.

The 24-year-old played a key role in getting the club to the top flight. Not only did he impress during his first year in England, but he stepped up significantly this past year, scoring nine goals and providing 12 assists in the Championship as Nuno’s side clinched the title with ease.

The reported interest in selling Cavaleiro did not go down well with the supporters, and the frustration is unlikely to be appeased now that TEAMtalk is reporting that the Terriers have agreed to sign Cavaleiro for £12 million.

The forward is arguably worth a lot more than what Wolves have reportedly agreed to potentially sell him for, and it seems to be a bizarre move given that David Wagner’s men will be one of the sides that Wolves will be targeting finishing above during the coming campaign as they look to make their mark at England’s top table.

If a move does go through, it would certainly appear that Wolves will be under some pressure to make sure that the rest of their signings this summer more than make up for the sale of one of their key men for a fee that seems well below his value.
