Liverpool fans keen on signing son of Manchester United goalkeeper.
Liverpool's search for a new goalkeeper is at a crossroads and more desperate than ever due to Loris Karius' Champions League nightmare.
Supporters on Twitter believe the Denmark international goalkeeper is a clear upgrade for them, in the short term even if not long term.
There is one big sticking point, Schmeichel's father Peter and his status as a Manchester United legend.
Schmeichel senior did betray United at the end of his career by playing for rivals City, and son Kasper did the same, even having a loan at their old time rivals Leeds.
His spell at City was viewed dimly by Red Devils fans, and seeing a 'Schmeichel' wearing Liverpool red just would not seem right to fans of both clubs.
Nonetheless, some Liverpool fans are keen on a potential move for the Leicester City number one, who won the league with the Foxes in 2015/16.
Here is a look at the reaction to his clean sheet for Denmark against Peru...
Honestly: Just give me Kasper Schmeichel. Leadership, quality and a winner’s mentality. #LFC— Clark James (@ClarkJamesYNWA) June 16, 2018
Why no one really looking at signing Schmeichel? I'd take him at #LFC— LAlfc (@millio_lfc) June 16, 2018
Don’t @ me but if we can’t get our big keeper targets, we should be going for Schmeichel #lfc— Marc Davis (@MarcDavis23) June 16, 2018
Kasper Schmeichel would be a good signing for us, cheap&premier league proven, at 31 he won't be around too long which could give time for karius to improve? Cheap alternative if we don't want to spend on a top keeper.#LFC— MaciekB❄ (@MaciekB_98) June 16, 2018
Would Schmeichel be an up-grade from Karius? Not the level that we all desire, but an up-grade is an up-grade? #LFC— Gary Croft (@DonXabi) June 16, 2018
