Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing the Brazilian ace.

According to a report from Italian media outlet Premium Sport, Liverpool are lining up a summer swoop for Flamengo attacking midfielder Lucas Paqueta.

Reds boss Jürgen Klopp has already been heavily active during this summer’s transfer window, bringing midfield duo Naby Keita and Fabinho into Anfield.

The German’s business seems to be far from finished, though, with the addition of an attack-minded player still featuring highly on his wish-list, after Nabil Fekir’s failed move to Merseyside.

Premium Sport claim that Liverpool will challenge Manchester City for the signature of Lucas Paqueta this summer.

They claim that the Brazilian has a £40 million release clause inserted into his current contract.

Good signing for Liverpool?

The 20-year-old really is a wonderful talent, and is most comfortable when operating in the number 10 position.

He chalked up three goals and four assists in 15 appearances for Flamengo last season – not a bad return for someone so young, and he looks like the kind of player who will go on to become a real star.

In today’s day and age, £40 million for someone with such great potential represents decent value, and if Klopp does manage to bring Paqueta to Liverpool this summer, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for the club.
