Liverpool's search for a goalkeeper continues, though Marca report that Reds target Alisson is nearing a move to Real Madrid this summer.
Loris Karius' nightmare Champions League final performance in the 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid means that Liverpool are once again looking for a shot-stopper, with Simon Mignolet potentially leaving.
Roma star Alisson appears to be a top target, whilst Atletico Madrid's Jan Oblak has also been mentioned, but new reports suggest another goalkeeper is on Jurgen Klopp's radar.
Il Messaggero in Italy reported on Wednesday that Liverpool are interested in landing Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha, with a fee of around €30million (£26million) mentioned.
Strakosha, 23, was born in Greece and joined Lazio from Panionios in 2012, and after a loan spell with Salernitana, he has become a regular for Lazio between the sticks.
The goalkeeper has now racked up more than 75 appearances for Lazio, and has emerged as one of the most promising goalkeepers in Italian football, with the Albanian international starring.
Liverpool may now move for Strakosha this summer, but fans have taken to Twitter to suggest that they aren't convinced he is any better than Karius.
Fans want a more proven goalkeeper than Strakosha and feel he isn't the solution to Liverpool's problems between the sticks, even if some do think he could be good value at £26million.
This move has potential! from the little i have seen of him i have been impressed, not quite as much as i have with Alisson, but at less than half the price it could be some good business! #LFC #TransferNews #Strakosha #YNWA pic.twitter.com/br9Uchct3X— (@KeitaVersion) June 13, 2018
Strakosha? A no for me. Not enough of an upgrade on Karius for us to pay near £30mill. Alisson at £70mill still represents better value as does Oblak at £90mill— JM (@AllezAllezLFC) June 13, 2018
Strakosha. Very promising talent, but trust me he is not the solution to our problem. #LFC— Pepo (@AlAjmiLFC) June 13, 2018
Do rate Strakosha but he's no Alisson or Oblak. He's good but you're paying for potential rather than guarantee— Ollie (@LFC_Ollie) June 13, 2018
I'd definitely take Strakosha as an alternative to Alisson. £26m too!— Josh (@MakeUsDreamLFC5) June 13, 2018
Bit disappointed with this move if true. I rate Strakosha, but he's not the profile of goalkeeper we need right now. We need somebody more well-rounded, considering our goalkeeping coach's ability to develop and even maintain talent is... questionable, to say the least.— Mik (@MikLFC) June 13, 2018
Strakosha is the best available option I could think of after Oblak and Alisson— Rollins (@BassamLFC) June 13, 2018
There are Liverpool fans who want Strakosha.— Dijkinho (@Dijkinho) June 13, 2018
Lazio let in 49 goals, 10th most in Serie A.
Even his best bits make Karius look average.
No thanks. #LFC
Actually I'm not Sure that Those Strakosha Guy from Lazio is better than Karius, look dodgy too..— Om Tex Anak Baik (@Tex_Jonathan) June 13, 2018
Indeed he made a decent saves but it seems that similar with Karius he is slow to back to get up position after make the save - still different level from Alisson or Oblak #LFC
