German side reportedly eye Tottenham's Wanyama, but do Liverpool still need him?

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama's future remains unclear. Reportedly interesting Liverpool last month, German giants Borussia Dortmund are now reportedly interested - but do the Reds need the Kenya captain?

The Daily Mail claimed Premier League trio Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United wanted the 26-year-old, with the report claiming Mauricio Pochettino may cash in on the former Southampton star.

Liverpool are set to lose Emre Can this summer with the German's contract set to expire. Italian champions Juventus are reportedly keen on landing the former Bayer Leverkusen star.

So, Liverpool's interest in Wanyama last month made sense. Now, Goal have reported, via German media, that Dortmund want to sign Wanyama in order to beef up their midfield this summer.

Spurs have been linked with a whole host of central midfielders - most recently Lyon star Tanguy Ndombele - though Mousa Dembele is expected to leave the north Londoners this summer.

It could mean that Wanyama becomes available. With Dortmund now interested, Liverpool must consider if they are interested in the Premier League powerhouse, or face watching Jurgen Klopp's former side land the midfielder.

But do the Reds really need him? Klopp made the surprise signing of Brazilian star Fabinho last month from AS Monaco, adding to his options at the base of the Liverpool midfield, alongside Jordan Henderson.

James Milner can also do a job at the base of the midfield, meaning Klopp has plenty of options in the middle of the park. Even though Dortmund could win the signature of Wanyama, Liverpool should ignore spending money on the Kenyan.
