Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter would like to see Mauricio Pochettino sign Bas Dost this summer.
The 29-year-old and three other high-profile players are in the process of leaving Sporting Lisbon [ESPN] after rescinding their contracts with the Portuguese giants.
Dost, who hit 27 goals in 29 starts last season, therefore could be available on a free contract this summer, and Tottenham supporters would love him at North London.
Spurs have tried and failed to sign an adequate back-up for Harry Kane in each of the past two summer transfer windows, with Vincent Jansson and Fernando Llorente flattering to deceive.
With that in mind, signing a striker is probably a priority for Pochettino over the coming months, and fans of the North Londoners like the look of Dost.
What do we reckon lads, Bas Dost our last attempt of signing Harry Kane esque backup player? Ship off Llorente and loan out Jansen again. https://t.co/NawaYeLyCA— Marshy (@MarshyTHFC) June 12, 2018

Get Bas Dost and Gelson Martins in at Spurs Dost might not be the highest rated player, but a hell of a back up to Kane https://t.co/NssGyzIa80— Matty Heneghan (@Matt_SFC95) June 12, 2018
We could get £8m for Llorente from a Spanish club then get Dost for a free who can’t be much worse?— Marshy (@MarshyTHFC) June 12, 2018
Dost obviously has an extremely healthy goals-to-game ratio, but that isn't concrete evidence over his capacity to be far better than Janssen or Llorente.
During the 2015-16 campaign, Janssen, his fellow Netherlands international, also recorded a 27-goal domestic season in the Eredivisie and yet he is clearly nowhere near good enough to cover someone of Kane's ability.
