Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing John Egan from Championship side Brentford in the summer transfer window.

If Leeds United fans were hoping that John Egan could be seen as an upgrade on Liam Cooper or even Pontus Jansson, now is the time to look away.
But if the reaction from the Griffin Park faithful is anything to go by, maybe Leeds should steer clear. It seems that Egan, despite being a regular starter and wearing the armband, is far from a fans’ favourite.

The 25-year-old Republic of Ireland international started 32 Championship games last season as The Bees finished in the top half after a brief flirtation with the play-offs.
But, with Ezri Konsa arriving from Charlton Athletic and the much coveted Chris Mepham waiting in the wings, Egan’s position could be about to come under threat.
So if Leeds do step up their interest in the one-time Sunderland youngster, it would be interesting to see whether Brentford would be willing to cash in on their skipper. But, in truth, Egan is at best a solid second tier defender and, if Leeds want to push on towards the top six, they probably need to be aiming higher.
Kyle Bartley anyone?
