Have Aston Villa just been offered a deal they simply can’t refuse?
It is common knowledge that Aston Villa could be forced to sell Jack Grealish this summer after defeat to Fulham in the Championship play-off final plunged the Midland giants into financial free-fall. They need to raise £40 million to avoid Financial Fair Play sanctions and selling Grealish, the club’s prized asset and their most valuable player, is probably the best option.
There has been no shortage of interest in the 22-year-old playmaker, who ended last season in the form of his life. Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham, Everton, Newcastle United and Arsenal have all been linked.
But Chelsea might have a trump card to beat them all. According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea are willing to pay £30 million with the added bonus of loaning Grealish back to Aston Villa for the entirety of the 2018/19 season.
And this seems like the best possible option already. Villa fans thought they had seen the last of their homegrown wonderkid and the prospect of him spending next season in claret and blue too did not seem possible just a few hours ago.
The report adds that Grealish himself wants to stay one more year – so this deal would work out perfectly for everyone.
Chelsea now reportedly interested in Grealish ! Should definitely be looking to get Tammy Abraham and one or two others on loan from then if they do want to do a deal ! #AVFC— ClaretBlueAVFC (@ClaretBlueAVFC) June 12, 2018
If still prefer the "Jack back on loan for a year" option.— John Joyce (@villa_pogue) June 12, 2018
I'll just go for a lie down.....
£30m + Abrahams, DaSilva, and Jack on loan.....no this is Villa....these things dont happen to us— Boycey (@Boycey1259) June 12, 2018
Bruce doesn’t like youth. He likes expensive and experience— davidy1982 (@davidy1982) June 12, 2018
Chelsea linked with Jack now! Fantastic, sell him for 40m then loan him back every season until his contract runs out then snap him back up on a free! #avfc— Mike Coles (@Coles78_UTV) June 12, 2018
If we do have to sell Jack then this would be my preferred option, with at least a first refusal option to any sell on, but hope he stays #AVFC— Villa18/19 (@19Villa18) June 12, 2018
No idea how true the 30m plus keep Jack for the season ahead from Chelsea is. But we’re highly unlikely to get a better offer than that. Having that cash injection may even allow us to keep Chester as well. Get it done! #AVFC— AJS (@ajsfounded71) June 12, 2018
Gotta be second best option to maintaining him for good— ClaretandBlueB6 (@dpwhite48) June 12, 2018
