Report: Potential boost for Everton as William Carvalho and Gelson Martins reportedly terminate Sporting contracts

It could be an interesting week for Everton, as two primary targets have taken a huge step towards leaving their current club.

Everton have reportedly been handed a serious boost in pursuit of two primary targets this summer, as winger Gelson Martins and midfield enforcer William Carvalho are said to have terminated their contracts with Portuguese giants Sporting, according to local outlet Record.

Marco Silva is said to have courted both players closely over the last week, while also monitoring the situation of highly-rated striker Bas Dost, according to reports from Abola, and he now has a window of opportunity to do some serious business.

Carvalho's agent Pere Guardiola is said to have been in constant contact with Everton's director Marcel Brands over a potential switch, and negotiations will progress swiftly if the player has indeed terminated his contract.

Well, after the incident involving Sporting fans last week, both are said to have sent letters of termination to the club, with a view to moving on in the coming weeks.

If accurate, this would provide a golden chance for Everton to quickly secure two top quality players for a small fee, or potentially on free transfers.

However, the news would likely attract Premier League competition for the likes of Martins, with Arsenal said to be keen on bringing the 23-year-old to the Emirates the summer (the Express).
