Pellegrini has been linked with a host of players after co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold pledged to back the new Hammers boss with unprecedented funds, as reported by the likes of talkSPORT.

While most Premier League managers will be looking to the World Cup to scout potential new signings ahead of what promises to be another fiercely competitive campaign, supporters on Twitter have suggested West Ham were more likely looking at Socceraid - the charity football match which pairs ex-pros with celebrities in an England vs World XI exhibition match.

Toure played alongside the likes of Usain Bolt for the World XI against an England team containing David Seaman, Darren Bent and singer Olly Murs.

And Twitter wasn't kind in assessing the West Ham-linked star's performance.

He was roundly savaged with one fan describing his performance as 'bizarre' and others stating they would rather see the Hammers sign Bolt or Murs.
