Dorus de Vries should consider his future at Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic.

Celtic secured the permanent signing of Scott Bain on a free transfer last month, and it should convince Dorus de Vries to leave Brendan Rodgers’s side this summer.

Bain, 26, joined the Hoops on loan from Dundee in the January transfer window and was ahead of De Vries in the pecking order when Craig Gordon was out injured.

With De Vries having one more year left on his current contract at Celtic, the former Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest goalkeeper should leave the Hoops this summer.

It is clear that the former Swansea City goalkeeper is not going to get any playing time as long as Gordon and Bain are fit, and having made just 15 appearances in all competitions for the Glasgow giants since his move from Forest in the summer of 2016, it is time for him to find a new club.

De Vries can still do a good job between the posts any club in the Scottish Premiership or in the Championship in England, and it would not make much sense for him to waste another year at Celtic.
